Cambodia - Neak Ta Chen ceremony, a set on Flickr. Didn’t make it home for Mardi Gras yet again, but this year I was able to see this. ***if blood makes you squeamish, then this will not be one of your favorite sets***Chinese-Khmer belief where Shamans are possessed by a revered Chinese Grandfather Spirit which makes them oblivious to pain. They then cut their tongues and then lick pieces of paper which people buy for good luck & fortune. Also saw them wipe blood on small flags and even spit directly onto people. Moccasins would have been cooler! But never was fond of Hornets in name, and personally think we should have retained the JAZZ name even though the team left. What connection does Utah have with JAZZ!? At least Pelicans has connection to the State.

The Fallacy of Red and Blue States “Because of America’s electoral college system, and the media port rail of the results, we have come to see ourselves as either red or blue states. “This is not only increasingly divisive, it is also completely misleading. Very few states fall strongly to one side or the other. In fact, 18 states are within about a 15% margin of going the other direction. The reality is, that we are a nation of purple states. We will have to start seeing past our differences and focus on our common goals if we hope to make any progress.”
